It’s official – Pak Suzuki has discontinued the production of the iconic "Carry Dabba," better known as Suzuki Bolan. After years of speculation, the company has confirmed that the Bolan will no longer be rolling off the assembly lines. A recent photo circulating on social media, showing the incomplete vehicle with a poster reading, “Bye Bye Y88V Bolan – End of Production,” marks the end of its long journey. The last chassis number produced was 01151691, signaling the conclusion of an era.
The Suzuki Bolan, once a popular choice for Pakistani consumers, is set to be replaced by the more modern Suzuki Every. Despite being outdated, lacking basic safety features, and offering minimal comfort, the Bolan continued to sell due to a lack of viable alternatives. However, with the introduction of competitors like the Changan Karvaan, consumer demand for a more advanced vehicle grew louder. The Bolan’s old design and safety concerns became major drawbacks in a market that was ready for change.
What’s Next?
Suzuki had previously hinted at discontinuing the Bolan following a 2021 Lahore High Court ruling that required vehicles to be equipped with airbags. Though the company resisted the move initially, the absence of modern features and increasing competition made the discontinuation inevitable. In 2022, Pak Suzuki briefly introduced an air-conditioned variant of the Bolan, but it was also short-lived.
Now, Suzuki Every is set to take the Bolan’s place. Initially revealed at the Lahore Auto Show, its launch was delayed due to issues like the ban on Letters of Credit (LCs) and restrictions on importing CKD kits. However, it’s now confirmed that the new Suzuki Every will hit the market by October 2024, marking a new chapter in Pak Suzuki's journey while bidding farewell to the beloved Bolan.
