Kia Motors is launching two strong shot cars this year
Kia just displayed a stunning range of vehicles at the 2019 Pakistan Auto Parts Show (PAPS) and we can’t be more impressed! Meanwhile the new Sportage SUV Picanto Hatchback is reportedly being aligned for a major 2019 launch shot in Pakistan making us loose the lowkey factor.
Asif Rizvi, the CEO of Kia-Lucky Motors pronounced the good news regarding these cars at the PAPS that his company is gearing up to record pre-bookings for the Kia Picanto and SUV Hatchback presently and will be finally accepting them in June. However the debuting cars will be up for sale sooner i.e. Sportage SUV by August and Picanto hatchback by October.
Asif Rizvi also urged the Engineering Development Board (EDB) to link the real successful tariff-based localization regime to volume, so that high technology products having low volume can be introduced viably and frequently. He added that;
Today 30-38% of the value of a car assembled in Pakistan is collected by the government in the shape of various levies and in order to realize auto industry’s potential, the country needs to take some measures.
Coming back to our cars, the Kia Picanto had its 3rd generation (JA) Picanto launched back in 2017 globally.
The one that’s coming to Pakistan now is the 2nd generation (TA) series which was globally sold between 2011 & 2017.
So basically, the 2nd gen (TA) Picanto that’s going to be launched in October in Pakistan is actually the facelift version of Picanto which was globally introduced in 2014.
Pak Suzuki having maintained its monopoly over the last 3 decades finally faces the danger zone as its new Suzuki Celerio will be facing a head on competition with Kia Picanto now.
As much as the sources have put in it is clear that the Picanto will be powered by a 1.0 liter (998cc) 3 cylinder petrol engine producing 69hp @6200rpm.
Dimensionally the Picanto is quite similar to the new Suzuki Cultus (Celerio) while the engine produces similar number of horses.
