Peugeot, the renowned French car manufacturer, continues to captivate car enthusiasts with its latest offering – the facelifted Peugeot 208 hatchback. Following the success of the facelifted 2008 model, the company has once again raised the bar by introducing exciting updates to the beloved Peugeot 208. This modern iteration showcases impressive visual upgrades and an immersive driving experience that is bound to leave a lasting impression.
Revamped Design Language
The front fascia of the Peugeot 208 is a true standout, with its updated lion badge stealing the spotlight. The car boasts three elongated vertical light claws and a distinctive light signature that seamlessly blends into the full-LED headlights, creating a visual harmony with the vertical bars positioned in the bumper. The grille showcases a revised pattern and features body-colored accents, resulting in a cohesive integration with the bumper. This striking front-light attribute is now incorporated into all versions of the new 208.
This design language was first introduced in the 9X8 Hypercar and has now been revised in the 508 and 508 SW models. Additionally, the Peugeot 208 flaunts fresh two-tone 16- and 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and an X-shaped center cap adorned with the new corporate logo, adding a touch of sophistication to its exterior.
Impeccable Interior
Stepping inside the Peugeot 208, you'll be greeted by an ultra-modern interior that sets new standards in its segment, thanks to the innovative i-Cockpit. The cabin features opulent black Alcantara upholstery with optional Adamite Green stitching (available in the GT variant), exuding an air of luxury. The car also boasts a standard 10-inch touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster of the same size with a redesigned layout, further enhancing the overall driving experience.
In the 208 GT variant, you'll find additional updates, including new ambient lighting and a revised gearshift knob for models equipped with a six-speed manual transmission. The steering wheel has been updated to incorporate the new logo, along with a refreshed badge. For a touch of elegance, the GT variant offers optional black Alcantara upholstery with Adamite Green stitching, as well as Adamite Green accents on the armrests and dashboard.
Power and Performance
When it comes to power, the Peugeot 208 offers a range of engine options to suit various preferences. The entry-level version is equipped with a 1.2-liter, three-cylinder engine that delivers 75 horsepower through a five-speed manual transmission. For a more powerful experience, there is a variant with 100 horsepower paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Opting for the 208 with a mild-hybrid engine, available in 100 or 136 horsepower, provides the convenience of a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The E-208 model, on the other hand, boasts an electric motor delivering 156 horsepower. With a 51-kWh battery pack, it offers an impressive range of 249 miles (400 kilometers) in the WLTP combined cycle. Charging the E-208 at a rate of 100 kW allows for a quick charge time of less than 25 minutes to go from 20 to 80 percent battery capacity. At a lower charging rate of 7.4 kW, the charging time is approximately 4 hours and 40 minutes, while at 3.2 kW, it takes around 11 hours and 10 minutes.
